We have a Mockingbird nest in our blackberries. The eggs hatched yesterday and these little birds are HUNGRY!
We wish a very happy father's day to all of the fathers out there who have worked tirelessly for their families.
Today we want to honor our Dad, Alex Hrichak who passed away on June 12, 2016 at the age of 94. Everybody loved him, especially his stories about his growing up in PA as one of 10 children. He had so many stories that he shared about his journey through this life. He was a proud WWII veteran who served in the Pacific. He was a true inspiration to all of us and taught us that if you work hard, you will go far in life. He lived most of his life in CT, but came to live at Born in Zorn Farm in early 2014. He loved to eat our peaches and blackberries and do his "laps" around the wrap-around porch of hour house in his walker.. He always had a smile for us and he especially lit up whenever he was with children. We will miss him dearly.
God Bless you Dad!
The farm will be closed Thursday and Friday of this week. We need to let more blackberries ripen as we have had LOTS of pickers! We will re-open on Saturday, June 18th. See you then!
Jack and Elaine Rosenberg
Here is a group that came by on Wednesday to pick. They were in the area for a big family 50th wedding anniversary gathering. They headed to the field and picked their baskets full in the HOT sun! Kudos to all of you. Great picking!
We had so many pickers this weekend, the vines need a few days to recover. We expect lots of berries for picking on Wednesday. We do have a limited quantity of already-picked blackberries and peaches. We have reached the end of our peach harvest;( Please come by for our fresh muffins and cobbler peach and seedless blackberry) made from our fruit.
We had a very busy and productive day with all of the folks who came out to pick blackberries. Our peaches are almost at their end. Jack picked a GIANT June Gold this morning that must have weighed a pound. A new item from the Born in Zorn farm kitchen is seedless blackberry cobbler - yum!
This weekend is our last weekend of peaches. There may be some for you to pick, but most of them are picked out. We had a very early season this year.
The blackberries are loving this rain. We have LOTS of blackberries for picking, otherwise they go to jam, blackberry coblbler, or blackberrry muffns.
If you want to pick, bring your boots!
Our hours daily are 10-7.
Come try our peach cobbler and our jams!
These blackberries are just waiting for the sun!
